We will share details about our multi-year collaboration between Augustana College faculty, elementary teacher candidates, and kindergarten teachers to develop iPad® apps that address specific learning needs of children with varying levels of numerical knowledge as they surface in the classroom. Teacher candidates investigate the usefulness of apps we have created to meet the learning needs of kindergarten students and suggest ideas for the modification and creation of apps. This partnership has led to the development of a suite of iPad apps available through the Apple App Store®, with more than 8 million free app downloads to date. In this session, participants will engage with teacher candidates and alumni of the program regarding the ways in which the apps were and were not found to be useful, view video of kindergarten students interacting with the apps, and have time to examine several of the apps.
