Beyond the Fourth Wall: One District’s Quest to Use Technology to Make Thinking Visible

Feedback form is now closed.
Teachers write objectives, create assessments, and instruct students, but how we really know our kids are learning? In 2013, Lake Zurich School District 95 launched its Mobile Learning Initiative, which dramatically increased our K-12 students’ access to technology. Over the last 5 years we have stressed to our stakeholders that access to technology doesn’t equal student success - teachers facilitate student achievement through core student-centered instructional practices like clarity, feedback, a supportive class culture, and by working collaboratively to reflect on their impact. In this discussion our district administrators, teachers, and technology coaches reflect on how they use technology and these practices to make student thinking visible.
