In this session, the audience will learn what the physical learning environment means for schools that are looking to successfully apply STEM education. Schools that utilize project- and STEM-based learning, like Khan Lab School in Mountain View, as well as companies like Google, strive to ultimately make their students comfortable with computer science and technology. Part of that means combatting their problems with space: here, educators and administrators will focus on the impact that a physical learning environment has on their ability to teach science, technology, engineering and math. Case studies will be presented to the audience to give real world examples of schools with specific learning models, objectives, and experiences that they wanted to equip their students with, and how they have worked with architects to design physical spaces that support their experiments in space.
