Students Record Interviews to Document & Archive History

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
Sophomores in U.S. History record audio or video of an interview they conduct with someone who can speak to an event or topic important to the American experience. Students conduct research to prepare for and to better understand the interview. Students use WeVideo to then create a video that provides background information for the audience and includes highlights from the interview. With students’ permission, the school library digitally archives the videos in a private database.

We will share how we structure the assignment for individual and group projects, how we adapt the assignment for mainstream and co-taught students, how we support students’ research, the various ways students record interviews, and how students create videos to share all they’ve learned. We will share how we created our digital archive of these videos. Participants may ask questions and share out how any of the assignment’s components applies to their discipline.
