Creating Blended Learning Experiences

Blended Learning empowers students to make choices and to provide their voices to structure the learning process. By creating online instructional materials, by designing pathways for students to make choices on how to learn content and skills, and by using a research project to facilitate personalized inquiry, I have given students in my United States History classroom a large role in driving their own learning. This session will focus on how I scaffolded teaching experiences for myself and learning experiences for my students in order to get to the point where these opportunities could be implemented. With support from a pilot project in my school in the 2017-2018 school year, students are able to leave class when it is warranted to work in flexible times and spaces while the teacher provides support and guidance for individuals and small groups. This presentation will also share how the pilot has progressed.
