This is an exciting time in education! There are more and more innovative open educational resources [OER] being developed and available for teaching many different subject areas. These provide an alternative to the traditional textbooks and technology from publishing companies. OER offer low or no-cost peer-reviewed materials as well as cutting-edge adaptive and personalized technologies. Findings from two pilot studies using the OpenStax psychology textbook coupled with a new personalized and adaptive “open educational resource” and technology - LRNR - will be presented. Participants will be directed to a few great resources on OER, information about OpenStax, and receive the opportunity to look “inside LRNR” – biology, sociology, psychology and more - by perusing the guided tours online. I am looking forward to a lively discussion on disrupting “traditional” education to increase both student and faculty success!
