How I Started Flexible Seating in 3rd Grade Without a Big Budget

I am a seasoned elementary teacher who wasn’t enamored with the typical classroom seating arrangements. Over the years, I’ve tried a number of different setups including tables, grouping individual desks, rows, etc. After reading about flexible seating and seeing a number of expensive options, I knew I wanted to create a new type of classroom for my students. I began planning on how I could create something great for my students with a tight budget using some of the furniture already available throughout my school. We will look at what I’ve done, how I did it, and the numerous successes and learning opportunities I ran into along the way.
