Mike Lawrence

Senior Director, Educator Engagement
Orange County, California Area
Mike is an award-winning teacher, administrator and educational leader. He served as the CEO of CUE, expanding the nonprofit’s impact, and also directed the California Student Media Festival (mediafestival.org) for a decade. He served two terms on the ISTE Board and on the UNESCO Expert Group on Mobile Learning, the board of National Coalition for Technology in Education and Training (NCTET) and as an Expert Advisor for the California Emerging Technology Fund (CETF). In 2011, he was honored as one of the "20 to Watch in Educational Technology" and was awarded the ISTE Making IT Happen award in 2013.

He co-founded the Google Certified Teacher and Leading Edge Certification programs, is an Apple Distinguished Educator, and assisted in the development of the Discovery Educator Network (DEN). He served as CEO of CUE (CUE.org), helping the nonprofit grow over 500% in 12 years.

He’s Chief Maverick of Maverick Learning, and was tapped last year to help create the ISTE Certified Educator program through his freelance educational transformation firm. He enjoys living in Southern California with his wife and kids, sporadically performing in musical theater with his youngest daughter and serving as treasurer of the Choir Boosters for his (now driving - yikes!) second tenor son. He currently heads up Educator Engagement at PowerSchool.
