Annabel Hasty is the Lower School Music Teacher at Quest Academy, a gifted independent school in Palatine, Illinois. Annabel has taught music in a variety of different socioeconomic environments across the country. She is a founding teacher at an inner-city charter school in New Haven, CT called Achievement First and taught music in a Spanish-English dual language elementary school in Des Plaines, IL. She was the Choir Director and Keyboard Instructor at a liberal arts charter middle school in Worcester, MA. Her Master’s thesis, “The Impact of Informal Music Learning Practices on Students’ Musical Meanings and Experiences,” explores the use of both popular and Classical music by high school students composing with GarageBand technology. She has presented “Rockin’ Out with 3D Printing, Laser Cutting, and Podcasting!” at the Gifted Education in Independent Schools Conference.
