Social Studies Teacher
Greater Chicago Area
Cheryl Parmenter has more than 10 years classroom experience in grades 9-12. She has taught a wide-range of social studies courses, always with an emphasis on empowering students to make good choices through engagement with relevant and meaningful content. Cheryl earned her doctorate in 2016 in Educational Leadership with a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction; her research centered on studying best practices in policy and curriculum and instruction related to responsible technology use. Cheryl's research experience led her to take a lead role on the Digital Citizenship Committee at WTHS, in charge of developing and implementing instructional strategies designed to teach students about responsible use of technology. Cheryl believes that the key to creating a digitally responsible school culture is rooted in a student-centered approach, where students take ownership of planning and implementing strategies to increase their digital awareness and empowering them to make responsible choices.
