Kaitlyn Strauman

Illini Central Grade School
Library and Computer Lab Teacher
This is my 9th year teaching. I work in a small, rural district in southern Illinois. I spent six years as a classroom teacher. I taught 4th grade, 2nd grade and 1st grade. I am in my third year of teaching literacy and technology classes, titled Write to Read and Read to Write in the library and computer lab. This is a program I developed with my principal, as a departure from our previous set-up which kept the library and computer lab isolated. I have a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Illinois Wesleyan University. I have a Master’s degree in Teacher Leadership from University of Illinois at Springfield.
